25.4 v2.1 - iPad Retina & a new graphics package

Another significant update to 25.4. In this release I've added support for the new iPad's retina display. But in the process of doing so, thought it prudent to try and keep the total App size to a bare minimum. I mean, who wants to download a 20Mb calculator App. I'm very proud to say that we beat our expectations. Not only did I add all new graphics for the new iPad, but also remade the entire graphics package with a new font, button styles and button animations. All this in a shiny new 9.2Mb package.

iPhone 3G owners. I added back support for iOS 4.0. A lot of us have old 3G's just laying around not doing anything. Why not put it to some use and keep it as a designated calculator? A few words of caution when running 25.4 on the iPhone 3G. Due to the slower processor, the button animations and sound effects processing take slightly longer than the 3GS and iPhone 4/4s. If you experience a situation were the App is not responding fast enough to your button presses. Simply turn down the volume in the In-App settings all the way. This will completely disable sound effect playback in the App. The rest of the App will continue functioning as normal, and feel as fast as on later iPhones.

Which brings us to the last topic. It came to our attention during the testing phase of this release that 25.4's button sounds may have an unintended side effect. You see, I take great pride in the production of my Apps. And as such I also take great care to create and use original assets. All the button sounds in 25.4 were recorded and mastered by myself for use in this App. In order to utilize these custom sounds, I have to use the same audio playback framework that is used by any other audio application on the iOS device. By now you're wondering where I'm going with this. Here's an example of the issue. You've got some great music playing through the App of your choice, jamming out and getting work done. You open up 25.4 to do some conversion and calculations. Start putting in some dimensions and realize, your music stopped playing. You see the moment you press a button, iOS will stop the music App from playing and play the button sound in 25.4. Luckily there is a very simple solution. Turn down the button  volume all the way in the In-App settings. This will effectively prevent the sounds from even attempting to play and allow all your other audio applications to continue functioning as normal.

That's all for this update, we truly hope you enjoy using 25.4.

As always you can grab 25.4 on the App Store.
